The colour of the sea is dark blue, the waters are quite shallow and the sand is dark-coloured. In front of the city, there is a large waterfront, starting from Akti Olympion beach and ending in the Amathus area.

Akti Olympion Beach

Located in the town of Lemesos at the start of Enaerios pier, Akti Olympion Beach stretches 2 km and is considered to be one of the most accessible and convenient in Lemesos, offering a wide variety of amenities. Comprised of a dark grey sands and clean waters, the sea here remains calm, thanks to a breakwaters on the adjacent promenade, making it suitable for all, including families with children.

Dasoudi Beach

Located in Germasogeia tourist area, the 1 km long Dasoudi Beach, provides everything for the perfect day out, and is the town’s most popular coastal strip. The beach has dark sands, and clean and calm seawaters that deepen fairly quickly. Facilities on the beach include toilets, showers, changing rooms, sun beds, umbrellas, water sports and diving centre, beach volleyball court, children’s playground, bicycle station and even an Olympic size swimming pool.

The beach has a small forest, “dasoudi’ in Greek, running adjacent to it with a beautiful footpath trailing through it. As such, it is a favourite for strolling, jogging and relaxing on the periodic benches. Beachgoers can choose between the organised facilities or the quieter spots under the eucalyptus, pine and acacia trees behind the sandy shore. There are also a variety of restaurants, fish taverns, cafes, bars, kiosks, convenience stores and accommodation in the area. Located at the famous coastal resort of Agios Tychonas in the Lemesos (Limassol) district, the beach of Armonia is a narrow strip of sandy shore that gradually widens towards the west, with clean seawaters that are protected from winds.

Lady’s Mile Beach

Located in Lemesos (Limassol), this 5 km coastal stretch of stunning, unspoiled sands and shallow waters runs along the east side of Akrotiri. The beach boasts dark grey sands and crystal-clear and calm seawaters, with the shallowest waters found at the southern end of the beach. Seashells can be found along the beach. Today, the area is well-known locally for its restaurants of fresh fish and traditional Cypriot cuisine. Some of the restaurants offer their own additional facilities, including water inflatables and games for children.

Around 1.5 km from the seashore you can see Akrotiri Salt Lake, a significant wetland in Europe, which attracts migrating birds, including flocks of vibrant pink flamingos and herons during the winter months. Further south of Lady’s Mile is the unspoiled area of Button Beach, where small coastal sand dunes have grown. Governors Beach

Goverors Beach is located by Pentakomo village, about 10 km east of Limassol, characterized by chalk white rocks that extend into the deep blue sea. Comprised of two parts (Governor’s and Kalymnos), the first section of Governor’s beach has dark grey sands and uneven surfaces, whereas the second section (Kalymnos), which lies around 200 m west of Governor’s beach, is replaced by flat ground and a long, narrow stretch of sandy coastline. Both boast calm, clean seawaters and provide a fantastic setting for walking amidst nature, as such they are popular with all, including families with small children.

Located near Limassol, in the greater area of Episkopi Bay, Kourion Beach is a 1 km long coast that is particularly striking with its natural palette of colours, and a regal and ancient history. Its designated swimming area has an exceptionally wide shore, comprised of sand and pebbles. The seawaters are crystal-clear and varying shades of blue that beautifully contrast with the surrounding white hills. Windsurfing can also be enjoyed.

Located 30km west of Limassol, Pissouri Bay is the tourist resort of the village of Pissouri. The coast has seen its popularity soar thanks to its stunning, natural beauty and the resort facilities now found in the area. The beach has fine sands, multicoloured small pebbles, and its clean waters are relatively calm. Its surroundings are further enhanced by the spectacular white cliffs of Cape Aspro on either side, making it one of the most picturesque coastlines on the island.
